Scout SD1 New

AethLabs Scout device at skew angle

The Scout SD1 is a real-time, low-cost multi-pollutant air monitor featuring dual PM sensors. This compact and highly capable device measures a variety of air quality parameters, providing detailed and actionable data in real-time. Designed for versatility, Scout is suitable for a wide range of applications.

The Scout SD1 can measure Particulate Matter Mass Concentration (PM1, PM2.5), Particle Count (PM0.5, PM1, PM2.5), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Total Volatile Organic Compounds (tVOC), Temperature (T), and Relative Humidity (RH). It’s designed to deliver comprehensive air quality insights, helping users monitor environmental conditions effectively.

Compact and lightweight, Scout measures 152.5mm (6 inches) in height, 75mm (2.95 inches) in width, and 100mm (3.94 inches) in depth, and weighs just 154 grams (5.43 ounces). Its small size and light weight make it easy to deploy in various environments, from indoor settings to outdoor locations.

Data from Scout is stored locally on a removable microSD card, ensuring easy access and retrieval. The device also features WiFi transmission capabilities, allowing real-time and bulk data transfer to AethLabs’ cloud data management system when a network is available. Scout supports 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, providing reliable wireless communication.

For power, Scout uses a USB-C connection and includes an outdoor-rated IP67 territory-specific USB-C wall adapter with a 6-meter (20-foot) length. This ensures the device can be powered in various conditions and locations.

Scout is passively ventilated to reduce the effects of direct solar radiation and optimize sensor response. It also features an integrated mounting bracket with power cord strain relief and secure encrypted communication, enhancing its usability and security. The dual PM sensors optimize data quality assurance and longevity, while aerosol conditioning reduces optical humidity effects in aerosol measurements.

Users can set up, configure, and manage the Scout over a local WiFi network, with remote device management available via the internet. Data can be accessed directly from the microSD card or remotely through the AethLabs website and API. The device also includes store-and-forward data buffering to minimize the impact of network outages.

The Scout SD1 operates in temperatures ranging from -10 to 50 °C (with aerosol conditioning off) and in 20% to 90% relative humidity (non-condensing).
